Due to the weather event coming in, Thursday’s screening site will operate in Crested Butte at the Lodge at Mountaineer Square parking garage from 10:00 AM-12:00 PM.

The Board of County Commissioners and Mayors of CB, Mt. CB, and Gunnison want to reach out to you as we find ourselves in uncharted waters amid the COVID-19 outbreak. We all support the extraordinary efforts of our public health officer and the difficult choices she has made in order to protect the citizens of Gunnison County. We want to find the best path forward and come out on the other side as best we can, in terms of both health and economy. This will take the continued investment of the whole community.

While there are signs that the impacts of this disease are leveling off, we will continue to see people getting sick. This plateau phase could last a while. We must keep spread at a level that will not overrun our healthcare system. As we move into this new phase, there will be a delicate dance between loosening of restrictions while also keeping the spread to a manageable level.

On Saturday, April 11, Gunnison County Public Health Director Joni Reynolds signed the Sixth Amended Public Health Order.

For tonight’s update we have chosen to change the format and post a letter from Incident Command.

We understand that Gunnison County’s ban on non-resident homeowners, with exceptions, needs more explaining. And that there has been extreme angst, anger, and fear that have come out of this decision. Rest assured that was not our intention.
