March 16th Gunnison County is closed to visitation. Second homeowners are exempt, but recommended to return to their place of primary residence.

March 14th Vail Resorts, including Crested Butte Mountain Resort, is closed for the season.

March 13th Gunnison County Libraries are closed.

March 13th The Adaptive Sports Center has decided to suspend all programming operations for the remainder of the winter season. 

March 13th The Center for the Arts and Artists Postpone All March & April Events All of the Center’s March and April events have been postponed until a future date. 

March 13th Seasons Schoolhouse has decided to align with the Community School and be closed for the next 2 weeks.

March 13th Stepping Stones has decided to align with the Community school and will be closed for 2 weeks. 

March 12th Little Red Schoolhouse – Limiting access to school by parents and visitors, no closure yet.

March 12th Tenderfoot Child and Family Development Center – Beginning on Friday morning, Tenderfoot will receive and deliver children from their parents/guardians at the front doors for drop-off and pick-up times  Tenderfoot will be strictly limiting our open door policy for families, visitors, and volunteers. No closure yet.

March 12th City of Gunnison Recreation programs taking place in the Rec Center have been suspended until further notice.  Lacrosse practice is still taking place.

March 12th The Gunnison Arts Center will be cancelling all remaining March events at a minimum.  Classes will continue at the discretion of the instructor.

March 12th The Center for the Arts and Artists Postpone March Live Performances

The Center regrets that due to COVID-19 coronavirus concerns all of the Center’s March live performances and some scheduled classes at the Center for the Arts have been postponed until a future date:

·        Thursday, March 12 – Colorado Symphony: Beethoven 2020

·        Saturday, March 14 – The Science of Winemaking: Oenology

·        Sunday, March 15 – Galactic feat. Anjelika Jelly Joseph

·        Monday, March 16 – The Young Dubliners + St. Patty’s Eve Craic

·        Friday, March 20 – Anders Osborne + Jackie Greene

Western Colorado University

Western curriculum will be delivered remotely for the remainder of the 2019-20 academic year. 2019-20 academic year events and activities on campus are canceled, including Spring Fest, Preview Day, Women at Western weekend and Commencement.

Gunnison RE1J School District

According to the Gunnison Country Times on April 2, “Gunnison Watershed RE1J School District classes, sports and other extracurricular activities will be suspended for the remainder of the school year.” 

Gunnison RE1J School District March 12th Announcement: In light of evolving information regarding COVID-19, Gunnison Watershed School District has cancelled all Parent Teacher Conferences in Gunnison, effective immediately to practice social distancing as a strategy to reduce the spread of any illness. If you would like information regarding your child’s progress, please email your child’s teacher. Please stay tuned for further updates.

In an effort to limit the spread of COVID-19 in our community, Gunnison Watershed School District will suspend all classes starting tomorrow, Friday, March 13, 2020. This includes:

  • Lake School
  • Gunnison Elementary School
  • Gunnison Middle School
  • Gunnison High School
  • Crested Butte Elementary School
  • Crested Butte Secondary School
  • Marble Charter School

Learning will continue during this closure. Please watch for communication from your school about online and alternative instruction. Outside use of our buildings is cancelled during this closure. Information is forthcoming regarding emergency food service from schools.

Gunnison Valley Health Wellness Events – March Events Have Been Postponed (new dates to be determined)

Gunnison Valley Health has postponed the following March wellness events as a proactive measure to keep our community healthy amid the heightened awareness about COVID-19, novel coronavirus. The following events will be postponed to a later date in 2020:

     Gunnison Early Blood Draws (Fred Field Center): previously scheduled for Tuesday March 24th – Thursday, March 26th 6:30am – 9:30am Postponed

     Crested Butte Wellness Fair (Oh Be Joyful Church): previously scheduled for Saturday, March 28th 6:30am – 11:00am Postponed

At this time the Gunnison Wellness Fair will continue to take place on May 9th. More information will be provided in the coming weeks. Your understanding is greatly appreciated.

March 9th – Starting from 7pm March 9, we are prohibiting all visitation to the Senior Care Center and Assisted Living. During this time, we will be limiting out of facility transport to essential appointments only. We are monitoring this situation daily and encourage family members to call their loved ones to maintain contact during this time.
