Vaccines
We have now begun to receive Johnson and Johnson vaccine. We began administering them last night. We will have given around 300 doses of Johnson and Johnson by the end of the week.
When you sign up in our Vaccine Interest Form you will have about a 1 in 3 chance of receiving any of the currently approved vaccines. It will depend on the doses we get from the state on a weekly basis. We are very fortunate to now have yet another vaccine to protect the community.
For additional questions, please do not call Health and Human Services or Gunnison Valley Health. Instead, we ask that you reach out to the Call Center at 970-641-7660 or CallCenter@gunnisoncounty.org.
Please fill out our vaccine interest form that is live on the vaccine information page on our website. Even if you are not interested in receiving the vaccine or if you aren’t eligible until later, we still would encourage you to fill it out. This information is helping us to continue to request doses to the state and will allow us to get you in for an appointment as soon as possible.
Health Order Status
We continue to operate in blue on the state dial and the county coronameter. For a look at our current restrictions please visit our public health order page.
On our local coronameter system we continue to operate in our blue level, the more restrictive state measures are outlined in red strike throughs. We are now meeting 0 of the 7 indicators for a move to yellow.
Community Survey
Gunnison County has developed this survey to better understand community knowledge, perception, and concerns related to COVID-19. Survey responses will be aggregated and no individual response will be attributed to an individual person.
Update Frequency Changing
We are reducing the frequency of our updates. We will be dropping our Monday written update and now be doing written updates only on Thursday. The Monday Virtual Town Halls will continue. We will be able to cover any pressing news at the Town Hall instead of a written update.
Our next Town Hall meeting will be at 4:00 PM on Monday, 3/8. Sign up ahead of time here.
If there is a topic you would like to see covered, please email ideas to, pio@gunnisoncounty.org.
State Vaccine Equitable Distribution Survey
The state has asked that we share the following survey around equitable distribution of vaccine. We need your help sharing the CDPHE – COVID-19 Vaccine: Reducing Barriers to Equitable Vaccine Distribution Survey. The survey seeks to collect feedback from a broad swath of historically and systemically marginalized and underserved communities (Black, Latino, Native American, Asian/Pacific Islander) as well as people in rural areas, people with disabilities, people from various faith communities, people who identify as LGBTQ+, and older people.
Community Testing
Free testing for anyone for any reason through Gunnison Valley Health continues. Asymptomatic testing will be on a first come first serve basis by appointment. To make an appointment reach out to the Call Center at 970-641-7660.
We will have a CDPHE supported community testing event following spring breaks.
- Friday, March 26th at the Gunnison County Fairgrounds, 7:00 am – 5:00 pm.
- Saturday, March 27th at the Crested Butte Community School, 9:00 am – 5:00 pm.
Other Vaccine Sites
Through a federal program, City Market has been providing vaccine. They have set up a scheduling systemthat is separate from the Gunnison County Vaccine Interest Form. We are excited to have more doses arriving into our community.
We have also heard indications that Walmart is working towards giving doses in the coming weeks. We will give any details as we hear them.
State Exposure Notification App
The state’s new exposure notification app is now live. Info on how to set it up can be found here. Even a small uptake of the app in our community can positively impact our outcomes. While alone it won’t be a game changer, combined with our other tools- social distancing, masks, hand hygiene- we can continue to reduce the spread.
Call Center: 970-641-7660
The Call Center is open from 8 a.m.-12p.m. and 1 p.m.- 4 p.m. Monday-Friday.
For those needing assistance outside of those hours, please leave a message. There will also be someone monitoring the callcenter@gunnisoncounty.org email.
