Health Order Status

As of 2/22, Gunnison County has dropped for 5 days to the blue indicators on the state dial. The state is showing our case rate per 100k from 2/15-2/21 at 40.01 and in the blue level. Our positivity in the same timeframe is at 2.35% and in the blue level. We have not seen any covid hospitalizations in the last two weeks. While this is great news, in order for us to move from the state’s yellow to blue level restrictions, we have to maintain these metrics for at least a week and at that point we can request from CDPHE to be moved to blue.

On our local coronameter system we continue to operate in our blue level, the more restrictive state measures are outlined in red strike throughs. We are now meeting 0 of the 7 indicators for a move to yellow.

Vaccinations

As of today, Gunnison County has administered 6,191 total doses. 2,162 individuals have been fully vaccinated. We hope to administer 530 first doses and 815 second doses at clinics this week.

For additional questions, please do not call Health and Human Services or Gunnison Valley Health. Instead, we ask that you reach out to the Call Center at 970-641-7660 or CallCenter@gunnisoncounty.org.

Please fill out our vaccine interest form that is live on the vaccine information page on our website. Even if you are not interested in receiving the vaccine or if you aren’t eligible until later, we still would encourage you to fill it out. This information is helping us to continue to request doses to the state and will allow us to get you in for an appointment as soon as possible.

Other Vaccine Sites

Through a federal program, City Market has been providing vaccine. They have set up a scheduling systemthat is separate from the Gunnison County Vaccine Interest Form. We are excited to have more doses arriving into our community.

We have also heard indications that Walmart is working towards giving doses in the coming weeks. We will give any details as we hear them.

Virtual Town Hall

This evening, we presented on variants and vaccinations. A recording and the presentation slides can be found here.

Our next Town Hall meeting will be at 4:00 PM on Monday, 3/1. Sign up ahead of time here.

If there is a topic you would like to see covered, please email ideas to, pio@gunnisoncounty.org.

Travel and Quarantine Guidance

Gunnison County continues to recommend that anyone who travels out of the county for more than 24 hours to quarantine for 7 days upon their return to Gunnison County. We also recommend that visitors who come into the county isolate for 7 days prior to their arrival.

The state has updated guidance for individuals that have received two doses of vaccine and 2 weeks have elapsed since the second dose. These individuals will no longer have to follow quarantine protocols when travelling or are exposed to a positive case. Instead, they will be directed to monitor for any symptoms and isolate and seek testing should any symptoms present. Individuals who are fully vaccinated will still be required to follow the commitments of containment.

State Exposure Notification App

The state’s new exposure notification app is now live. Info on how to set it up can be found here. Even a small uptake of the app in our community can positively impact our outcomes. While alone it won’t be a game changer, combined with our other tools- social distancing, masks, hand hygiene- we can continue to reduce the spread.
