Update on Positives
All of this data lives on our data dashboard here.
Our numbers are at 948 positive, 9,472 negative, and 107 pending tests as of January 14th.
We continue to meet two indicators for a move to yellow. Our positive cases and our positivity continue to be well above our coronameter thresholds. While positive cases are at a high level in our community, our ability to give care is still in a good place so we remain in our local blue level restrictions.
Vaccines
Please fill out our vaccine interest form that is live on vaccine information page on our website. We are building this database so that we can efficiently and equitably administer the limited vaccine doses that we are receiving.
We are instituting a confirmation email for the vaccine interest form. For all individuals currently in the system, you should receive a text and email confirming we have your information. For those that sign up in the future you will get an automatic confirmation sent when you sign up. We also hope to institute updates on where we are in the phases through this system in the future.
So far, we have administered 1624 first doses of vaccine in Gunnison County. We have administered 326 second doses of vaccine. We continue to vaccinate those from group 1a and the first portion of 1b. This includes healthcare system, first responders, critical infrastructure, covid response, and those who are aged 70+.
County Deaths
We are saddened to inform the community that an 80 year old male passed away from covid-19 at the end of December. The individual came into GVH and was immediately transferred to St. Mary’s where he passed away a couple of weeks later.
The death certificate had Gunnison County on it even though the individual lived just over the county line in Saguache County. This likely will be reconciled with the state soon.
Since this death, the state has done some reconciliation of our death counts. The state has reclassified one of our deaths from back in May and has deemed that covid was not the cause of death.
This moves our total deaths down to 5 even though we just had an additional death.
Every loss impacts our community and the families of those affected regardless of the cause of death. Our thoughts are with the families of these individuals who were lost.
Another Community Testing Event
Our scheduled community testing event will be on Friday and Saturday. To sign up please visit covid19.gunnisoncounty.org/test. We will be at the Fred Field House in Gunnison from 7:00 AM-5:00 PM on Friday, January 15th. We will be at the Crested Butte Community School from 7:00 AM-5:00 PM on Saturday, January 16th. We encourage any and everyone to come get tested. This round will be a walk up testing site. We are encouraging everyone to get tested as this will give us a broader picture of the prevalence of the COVID-19 infection in our communities.
Virtual Town Hall
Our Town Hall today was to give an update on our current situation. A recording and the presentation slides can be found here.
Our next Town Hall meeting will be at 4:00 PM on 1/14. Sign up ahead of time here.

Travel Quarantine Recommendation
We continue to recommend that anyone who travels out of the county for more than 24 hours to quarantine for 7 days upon their return to Gunnison County. We also recommend that visitors who come into the county isolate for 7 days prior to their arrival.
State Exposure Notification App
The state’s new exposure notification app is now live. Info on how to set it up can be found here. Even a small uptake of the app in our community can positively impact our outcomes. While alone it won’t be a game changer, combined with our other tools- social distancing, masks, hand hygiene- we can continue to reduce the spread.
